Your LinkedIn notifications should be full of new clients and opportunities, not sales pitches or your toxic ex-manager.

Blue circular sign with the number 56 in white.

Your LinkedIn can make you serious money, but it’s currently gathering dust. When you nail the basics, creating content transforms from the thing that’s stressing you out, to the thing that allows you to relax – feeling safe that you know where your next client is coming from.

You’ve been thinking that you ‘should’ be on LinkedIn, but…

A smiling woman with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a blue shirt, sitting at a desk with a laptop, holding a pen, in a bright, modern office space with framed artwork and plants.
  • Are you willing to not grow your business for the sake of one person seeing you trying something? (That's giving them a LOT of power) - we have a whole lesson and activity in the course on how to ‘clean house’ on LinkedIn so you’re seen by more of your ideal clients, and less of the old toxic bosses or colleagues.

A smiling woman with curly red hair sitting at a desk, holding a phone, in an office setting.
  • This might come as a surprise to you but LinkedIn is a whooooole different vibe to Instagram or TikTok. What you've been taught for there won't always land the same on LinkedIn. For most people, that’s a good thing (more writing, less video editing!!) - but it also means that different things work. Hitting copy + paste on your content created based on what works for another platform means it’s not likely to land how you want.

  • Lies and slander. There is still a professional focus, but as there are now over 1 BILLION people on LinkedIn. It's not just for corporate girlies any more. Only 1% of those people on LinkedIn actually post consistently - so if you're doing it well, you'll stand out for all the right reasons.

A smiling young woman with long blonde hair, wearing a black top and a silver necklace, posing against a plain light background.
  • They'll be on the platform and lurking - odds are, they're one of the 99% of people on LinkedIn who use it but aren't actively posting. But they're ready to be sold to (much more than on any other platform!) and waiting for you to show up and tell your story.

“I made four figures with one outreach on LinkedIn!”

This course is 100% worth it. I just had an old contact in my network reach out because of my LinkedIn posts. Landing her as a client has made me four figures with one outreach on LinkedIn. F-ing amazing. Each lesson was so valuable. The feedback from Nicole really improved my confidence on LinkedIn. It's become my favorite platform!

HERE’S THE THING —

You’re not the only one feeling sceptical about LinkedIn…

“I don’t know if LinkedIn will work for me”

One of the most common misconceptions we hear about LinkedIn is that it’s just not for some people — but that’s not true! It’s got a corporate background, but it’s evolved.

LinkedIn is a captive audience full of exactly who you want to be speaking to, you just need to position yourself in front of them. Breaking down how to write and tell your story is the key to doing that and also seeing results (which is literally what we teach).

…but while we’re here, there are more myths we can bust that are absolutely and unequivocally not true:

“It feels like the algorithm keeps changing”

“I’m too nervous to start, it seems like a lot of work”

“My competitors already post there, I’ll get lost”

“You have to post videos on LinkedIn if you want to do well”

Here are some truths about LinkedIn, since most people get the vibes wrong:

It seems scarier than it is.

Because it’s tied to old corporate roles for many of us, it can feel daunting. It makes it seem much scarier than it actually is to post there. But once you learn it the right way, it genuinely does feel easy.

You don’t need to be a writer.

Whether you’re already a writer or don’t feel comfortable writing at all, you can still be *good* at LinkedIn. Anyone can learn this with the right strategy and support - succeeding on LinkedIn is a buildable skill!

Results *are* possible.

Some people are put off starting to really care about LinkedIn because they worry that they aren’t the right kind of person for it - because they’re different or creative. Anyone (no matter how quirky or niche you are) CAN get results from it – and it could literally change your life.

Screenshot of a social media notification showing Nicole Marguerite Gray followed you.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY…

Not knowing how to make the most of your LinkedIn is going to start holding you back.

If you’re tired of inconsistent sales, worrying about posting Reels, and the stress that comes with not having enough leads, LinkedIn could be the answer for you – because having a space where you can enjoy posting content that *doesn’t* take days out of your week to create is the difference between falling asleep feeling anxious about your business, and waking up with confidence in what you do and what you sell every day.

Smiling blonde woman in a white shirt talking with someone using a laptop in a modern office setting.

You deserve a quick, easy way of getting new clients that doesn’t require hours on Instagram.

or trying to film and edit the perfect video for a fickle TikTok algorithm. But you know that already. You just haven’t made the jump yet.

Honestly, I don’t blame you. I know just how uncomfortable LinkedIn can feel, because I’ve been there. From having to use it for cold pitching back when I was in a job I hated, and dreading logging on bc my network was full of people who were so not my people… to now being the #1 hype woman and using it to land partnerships, connect with new clients, and meet some of my favourite people.

It’s a lot of pressure to know how much to share without just posting to your old colleagues, and how to connect to your ideal client – without feeling like you’re pushing a hard sell.

No wonder you’ve not been posting there. Running a business is hard enough, without you worrying about showing up on a platform that you’re just not sure about yet. If your only experience with LinkedIn is logging on and not seeing any posts from people you vibe with - to go from that to posting on there regularly feels impossible to add to your plate.

You’re doing this at your own pace - with all the support.

Soft Launch Your LinkedIn™ is self-paced, so you can learn on your own time. But we all know that learning about things isn’t the hard part - it’s the ‘taking action’ bit where we get stuck. Life gets busy and before you know it, you’ve stopped posting.

When we created the LinkedIn course, the #1 goal was to make it action-focused. So that even on busier weeks, you have the support you need to write and post good content quickly.

1

Specific time to write posts

Most of the time it’s not that you lack ideas - it’s carving time out of your schedule to write that’s the issue. We fix that by hosting Content Co-Writing Calls twice a month, bringing everyone together to get your posts done.

2

LinkedIn post prompts

If you’re not sure where to start, you’re not alone. That’s why we make it easy by giving you two post prompts inside each module - each one tailored to help you ‘launch’ (or re-launch) your personal brand on LinkedIn.

3

No such thing as a silly question

This is a firm rule - and we have a channel with lots of different questions to prove it! You’ll always be able to get an answer if you’re stuck, and you can drop in and ask the community (& Nicole) about any roadblocks you hit.

I know I ‘should’ be on LinkedIn but I’m nervous to post there?! Even though I feel super confident about my other socials?

Text message conversation showing Nicole Marguerite and a reply about an offer.

If I had a pound for every time I heard the ‘I should’ statement for LinkedIn – I legit would not need to work. I would have so many pounds. I would have enough pounds to pay people to stop saying ‘I should’ statements period. I would have enough pounds to buy LinkedIn itself.

Firstly, there’s no shame in this and you’re not alone. Especially for creatives, LinkedIn can feel way more nerve-wracking than other platforms because of its corporate heritage.

Being nervous about LinkedIn is not only valid, it’s normal.

Most of the people I’ve worked with were apprehensive about it at first, either because they were nervous about their old boss seeing their posts, or not being 100% sure that their ideal clients were there, or awkwardly worrying that your usual (proven!) style of content might not land the same over there.

It’s new and it’s different and it’s foreign. But that’s okay. It might just be the best thing that’s ever happened to you. You can’t live in the cycle of having to create content for Instagram that literally takes you days to create and edit and then finally posting but forever.

You didn’t become a business owner because you wanted to be a full-time content creator. You wanted to provide a service. You wanted to work with people. But constantly spiralling over what to post on Instagram is distracting you, and isn’t landing you the clients you actually want. LinkedIn lets you market your business without it taking over your life.

My role is to help you identify how to do that, and feel confident in posting on LinkedIn without needing to share anything that doesn’t feel like you.

No one-size-fits-all. No judgement. Just tried and tested formulas, ongoing support, practical tools, and a plan that works for you.

ERIKA STANLEY, BRANDING & AI STRATEGY

“I was terrified of posting on LinkedIn - silly, I know! But it felt really overwhelming.”

NOW: Erika feels 100% confident on LinkedIn and exactly how to use her posts to build her business — landing new clients, launching new offers, and growing her network. LinkedIn is no longer a scary space, it’s her favourite one!

ELISSA DAVIES, BREATHWORK

“I thought LinkedIn was just a place to brag, network, and stalk old colleagues.”

NOW: Elissa has found her happy medium, where posts don’t have to just be personal brags or long think pieces. She now has an excellent framework to follow, has built up an engaged audience, and has landed new work and partnerships.

A young woman with curly red hair smiling and sitting at a desk with a laptop, smartphone, coffee mug, and books, in a bright office environment.

RACHEL CUTLER, PRODUCT DESIGN

“I was already seeing results with LinkedIn but wasn’t sure how to repeat them.”

NOW: Rachel knows exactly how to use LinkedIn to her advantage, taking action and consistently creating strategic content on the platform to continue to grow her business and book out with clients months in advance.

I just don’t know if my people are on LinkedIn. What if I can’t find them?

I will hold your hand when I say this… there are now more than 1B people on LinkedIn. These days it’s less of an ‘if’ people are on there and more of a ‘how’ they are on there. Only 1% of people actually post content there regularly.

So your people are probably on there, but they’re just lurking at the moment. They’re waiting to be shown what they need. But currently… you’re lurking as well. And bottom line — two lurkers are never going to locate one another!!

I have yet to meet a single person in an industry that LinkedIn doesn’t work for. And trust me when I say I have worked with an expansive list of different people. It’s not a question of whether your people are on there, it’s just working out how to engage them. Making sure you’re front of mind. Knowing how to communicate with them so you become unmissable.

I’m just not sure I have time - I have a really busy period coming up.

As business owners, being busy is less of a momentary blip and more of a constant state of mind. If we tick a task off, we fill that gap with three more things. Waiting to be less busy doesn’t move the needle. We have designed the course to be action-focused, with each module designed to make a difference, and help you progress (and post!) while you learn.

No time is wasted or lost, and you have a full six months to work through the course - posting as you go. This is holding you accountable to do the things you know will make a difference, while acknowledging that we’re busy people that don’t have spare time to faff around.

Still struggling for time? You can get course access for your team members (think Virtual Assistant or Social Media Manager) and use this to help them up skill! They can join all the live calls and do your writing for you - making this even easier for you to implement.

Social media notification from Nicole Marguerite Gray indicating she followed you.

Hi – I’m Nicole.

Your Personal Brand Coach who will not tolerate ‘broetry’ on LinkedIn, believes there’s more to life than worrying about what time to post, and will always hold you accountable – but will do it so kindly you almost don’t even realise that it’s happening.

I used to think LinkedIn was just something you were supposed to have, but never use. DEFINITELY not for creatives. Working in marketing on personal brand campaigns across Instagram and beyond was my bread and butter. But fast forward to around four years ago when I started working with founders who wanted to post on LinkedIn – I started noticing how much easier and FASTER it was to get opportunities from there.

Let’s spill some LinkedIn tea:

  • I’ve seen a £3M investment deal done in the LinkedIn DMs

  • I’ve seen a Channel 4 documentary created about a retreat founder because of her LinkedIn

  • I’ve seen countless new businesses succeed and become booked up from LinkedIn

…it’s all from the founders posting their personal stories.

In the era of lip-syncing and pointing at text to a backing track of ‘trending audio’, I’ll be honest – I was relieved to find a solution that was focused on writing.

A woman with light skin and shoulder-length brown hair, smiling while wearing a bright blue fluffy sweater.

Your questions, answered.

  • I absolutely can! If you join inside one of the places on the Soft Launch Editor package, then when we begin working together, I’ll ask you to share your LinkedIn with me and we’ll go over your profile and your messaging.

  • You can! We love it when everyone gets to benefit - we also offer discounts for multiple team members to access if you have multiple team members who would benefit from access, support and feedback. Email admin@fivetoninecreative.com for more details.

  • We make payment plans available for any purchases over £200 (that’s in British pounds, FYI) - we believe in giving you flexibility when you’re balancing out your business finances, so payment plans come without additional costs or fees - meaning you can spread the cost comfortably as suits you!

  • Um that’s literally the whole point. Personal branding should be personal. It’s not about making you follow someone else’s style, or dim yourself down. It’s about working out what you have to say in a new space. It’s important to do this and stay YOU.

  • Honestly LinkedIn is just a different beast to other spaces - in a good way and in a tricky way. I’ve worked with TONS of copywriters (who are already incredible with words) who have only really gone ‘oh okay I get it now’ with their LinkedIn once they’ve understood how to write for there specifically. The rules are a little different there, and the psychology of what works vs what doesn't is unique. It’s not that it will just never work for you – it’s a case of identifying your message and your story. We can do that together.

  • You get access for six months, which means a rough cadence of one module every other week, joining the co-writing calls every other week and posting minimum once a week. This is a course designed to fit around your life and work - so it becomes a more seamless element of your marketing that doesn’t have to take up so much of your time and mental space.

  • We open our doors a few times throughout the year so you can always join in the future if now isn’t the right time. The course is constantly evolving - but as capacity changes, so does availability for Editor availability with Nicole. These spaces are always limited and often book up ahead of time, so if you’re considering joining on Editor, now is a good time to do so.

I’M SO SERIOUS RIGHT NOW

I believe to my core that LinkedIn is allowed to feel a bit scary, and feeling that is not silly, but it doesn’t have to stop you from posting there.

If you’re already someone who is running a business, you are someone who is brave, and building something important and necessary. I’m not here to preach to you to post 5x per week, or ditch the other platforms – I’m here to meet you where you’re at, help you find a place to get new clients that doesn’t feel impossible, and to make LinkedIn feel a lot less overwhelming.
